Honda Paint Code Identification System
Originally Honda used a number at the end of their paintcode to determine the plant where the vehicle was manufactured. This number also determined the correct DuPont formula to use.
In 1998 Honda changed the Vehicle Paint I.D. labels. The number was removed from the paintcode and was replaced by a letter to designate the country of origin. This letter factory code can also be found in the bottom right corner of the paint tag or by the 11th digit of the V.I.N. (Vehicle Identification Number).
Example V.I.N.:
H G E J 6 3 2 C 1 H 0 0 0 0 0 1
The 11th digit is a H: Therefore the vehicle was built in Canada.
